Paris, France

Think about Paris and I bet your first thought is the Eiffel Tower. The day I visited was cloudy, windy and teenagers on spring break crowded the lines for elevator to reach the top of the tower. I wasn't willing to wait for over two hours for the ride.

I walked from our hotel on the Champs Elysees to the tower in about fifteen minutes. It was a great walk with lots of shops and old buildings to look at. One thing about Paris is that you won't get bored if you like architecture and history.

Ooh la la...the Arc de Triomphe was completed in 1836 as Bonaparte Napoleon's tribute to the French Grand Army. How about that? Every time I wanted to take a picture, either a long bus or a huge truck was in the middle of the arch. Obviously, it's located in a busy location at one end of the Champs Elysees.

This was a first for me. Our hotel, appropriately named for me, Hotel California, was one block off the Champs Elysees and three blocks from the Arc de Triomphe...a great location. Up the block was this place....didn't go in. Seriously.

Good grief. How about having this couple grace your front door?
