Not all those who wander are lost. – J. R. R. Tolkien

Wandering is one of my favorite things to do. Talk about getting lost in a story, I can get lost in a city. But I always have my faithful map to keep me from getting into major peril. One of the coolest things about wandering, i.e. travel, is meeting new people.

Take this lovely lady. I met her while waiting in line for the ladies room at the Cico Bar, Piazza Marco Polo, in Venice. Barrack Obama had just been elected US President and she wanted to know what I thought about him. She was surprised by my response.

I discovered that she and her friend had taken a senior bus from Bologna to visit Venice for the day. I thought that was cool — similar to seniors here taking bus trips to a Louisiana casino. It's all entertainment.

And that got me to thinking about people and how we are all the same regardless of the country. Sure we may have different skin colors, speak different languages, and have different religions, but in the end we all want the same thing good health, good friends, the opportunity to provide for our family, and good enjoyment thrown in to round out our lives.

Bottom line, much more draws people together, than separates them.

Have you had an experience that proved to you . . . People are People?
